Firearm Transfer Requirements

To remain compliant with California and federal law, the following requirements apply to all firearm transfers:

  • Firearms must be shipped from a valid FFL unless otherwise permitted by law.
  • The firearm must be California compliant prior to shipment.
  • Customers are responsible for confirming legality before ordering or shipping.
  • Lindahl Holsters does not modify firearms to make them compliant after arrival.

If a firearm arrives that cannot legally be transferred, the customer is responsible for all return shipping costs and any applicable fees.

California Off-Roster Firearms

California law restricts the transfer of handguns that are not listed on the California Handgun Roster. Lindahl Holsters will only process off-roster handgun transfers when the recipient is legally exempt under California law.

  • Off-roster handgun transfers are generally limited to qualified law enforcement officers or other legally exempt individuals.
  • Valid agency identification and documentation may be required prior to initiating the transfer.
  • If you are not law enforcement or otherwise legally exempt, do not ship an off-roster handgun to our FFL.

Firearms received that cannot legally be transferred will be returned to the sender at the customer’s expense and may be subject to additional handling or storage fees.

Intake & Processing

We utilize precision intake tracking and verification procedures to ensure accuracy and compliance.

  • An intake form is required before any item ships to us.
  • Items arriving without prior notification may experience delays.
  • Transfer processing begins only after the customer completes all required paperwork and background check steps.

Transfer Fees

Transfer fees cover intake, logging, compliance verification, and administrative handling.

  • Standard Firearm Transfer: $47.19 DROS fee + $40.00 processing fee.
  • Private Party Transfer (PPT): $47.19 DROS fee + $40.00 processing fee. (per CA regulations)
  • Ammunition Transfer: $5.00
  • Additional Firearms on Same DROS: $10.00

(All state fees, background check fees, and applicable taxes are separate.)

Storage Policy

Due to limited secure storage capacity:

  • Customers must begin the transfer process promptly after notification.
  • Storage fees may begin after 10 business days from arrival.
  • Storage Fee: $5.00 per day/per item.

Items left beyond a reasonable period may be returned to the sender at the customer’s expense.

Shipping Guidelines

Please ensure the following when shipping to our FFL:

  • Include a copy of the sending FFL license (if applicable).
  • Include customer name and contact information inside the package.
  • Do not ship accessories or items unrelated to the transfer unless previously approved.

Lindahl Holsters is not responsible for lost or damaged shipments while in transit.
